We got up early to go to Babies R Us. I was on a money saving mission and thought that there would be some sales and an additional 10% off if we opened an account.
We found a Dutailier glider (top of the line so it did cool things like recline) but it was hard to justify the expense. However it was 20% off so went to lunch and talked about it before deciding
to buy. Opened the account and everything only to be told that they sold out during our application process!
We had also intended to buy a crib (similar to what we picked out at the furniture store but also $500 less and rated higher in Baby Bargains), but I didn't like it as much in person.

This is from the specialty furniture store. The brand got a B+ from Baby Bargains.

This is the set from Babies R Us, and it's $500 less (without additional discounts). The brand got an A- from Baby Bargains

Same set at Babies R Us but in espresso stain, which is what I prefer.
Can you tell the difference? I didn't love the Babies R Us set but it's a savings of at least $500. I'll probably wait for another sale before buying it though.
The other reason Saturday was so productive was that Gabe finally got around to getting rid of some appliances that we had moved down from my Maryland house. We moved the stuff down here in October of last year and our garage was 1/4 filled of the boxes and appliances. Gabe was supposed to get rid of everything after the film fest but just never got around to it. He finally did it this weekend!
When the guy came to pick up the refrigerator, we realized that it was missing some parts. We couldn't find it so we asked the guy to come back. Well, in looking for the missing parts, we ended up unpacking all the boxes! Watching all those TLC/HGTV shows really helped; we made 3 separate sections (free/sell, recycle, trash). We decided to be ruthless and threw out everything that was sentimental or something we thought could be re-purposed like old towels for the animal shelter. Yeah, it was a waste but we knew that if we didn't throw the stuff out, we'd never unpack. So we did it!
And guess what? The missing refrigerator parts turned up in the very last box we opened. Doesn't that figure?
