Going Home

Forgot to post his grades for the return trip. Can't remember much of it because it seemed to go by quickly. It's so wonderful having a baby with you because you fly through check-in, security, and customs!

Bangkok to Japan: A

Japan to Chicago: A

Chicago to Atlanta: F (Trin); C- (Gabe)

The flight home was shorter by about 3 hours. However, by the last leg Gustav was bursting to tell everyone about his experiences. We could not get him to hush up! And he was using his new found very loud voice! At the end of the flight a woman waved bye to him and told us that he was a good traveler. She obviously didn't sit anywhere near us.

Urgh, we've been home since Friday afternoon and he is still jet-lagged. We let him sleep with us on Friday and Saturday nights. On Sunday night, he cried from 11pm to 3am when we tried to put him in his crib. He ended up in our bed.

Our strategy last night was to keep him up as late as possible (had to pick up Tess at the airport at 9:30pm anyway) so he'd be extra tired and would sleep through the night for at least 6 hours straight. I put him down at around midnight and according to Gabe, he started to fuss at around 2am so Gabe stayed with him in his room for a couple of hours. At least he slept in his crib!

Tonight I'm going to put him down at 11pm and just make it an hour earlier every night until we get back to his normal bedtime at 8pm.

He's also experiencing terrible separation anxiety, which was compounded by being with us 24/7 for 2 weeks, so he seems to sense when we leave his room even though his eyes are closed! Before, he would just fall asleep on his own and sleep for 10 hours straight. Even his teachers commented on how easily he went down.

Wish us luck tonight!
