Discipline

Just got this regarding discipline from my weekly emails from the Baby Center:

That turning point happens when your child becomes capable of knowing when she's doing something she's not supposed to, often around her first birthday. "When she looks at you with that glint in her eye and then drops the peas, you know it's time to do something." says expert Madelyn Swift. What you do, says Swift, is start teaching the concept of taking responsibility for her actions.

Oh, that glint...

Sneaky beast loves to touch the Diaper Genie (a no-no), run to the closet when he sees me approach, and then run back to the Diaper Genie to touch it again...with that glint in his eye.

Obviously just saying no is not working anymore. For the past couple of days, every time he touched the Diaper Genie, I would look away and ignore him. Then when he would start walking towards me, I would clap and smile and make a big deal over him. We'll see if this new approach is working.
