First Day at New School

For a variety of reasons, we decided to move Greta to a new school, one that a neighbor loves and recommends. Today was her first day.

As I was taking her picture outside, the family support coordinator came out to ask if that was Greta. Gabe was so impressed that she knew who we were.

Greta has been pretty fussy lately (lack of routine, visitors, slight runny nose, lots of transitions at home and schools) so this morning was no exception. She was very clingy and cried a lot in the car. After we walked into her new classroom, we washed our hands and when I turned, I saw that we had a little friend following us. Ms. Delane had to take Greta away, but two seconds later she was eating and not crying:-)

While this center doesn't have some of the perks that we've grown accustomed to (eg, daily emails with photos, sensor hand soap and paper towel dispenser that Greta was used to, very healthy and interesting menu), what it does have is low ratio (1:4), grandparent program in partnership with the AARP in which grandmothers provide additional support, large and clean space, low teacher turnover, and same teachers moving up with kids until they are three.

So far so good!

ETA: She did great! In fact, her teacher said that she did better than some of the veterans toddlers and did not cry at all. She also napped for two hours. And when we got home, she got a welcome postcard from her teachers:-)
